After Shanks came back they used him too much I thought, for the later seasons.Daniel and Vala, still in the grips of the Ancient communications device, encounter a Prior, a zealous missionary and highly evolved human with zero tolerance for unbelievers. Also his relationship with Teal'c was quality. Jackson's overdramatic emo stuff got a little old and Quinn was a breath of fresh air. The only thing about the series that I actually really would have wish they changed (or rather kept) was I wish they had Jackson stay dead and Quinn stay on board. For their sake they had to split up his military honor/humor. Sure, they were pretty much Oneills personality split into two characters, but come on, be fair, not that many actors are as awesome as Anderson. I thought we might see it in the Ark of Truth, but alas no.ĮDIT: Also Cam and Vala were both great characters I thought. Showing how the Ori reacted to something like the replicators would have been quality stuff. If they had done a switcheroo and mixed the Ori/Replicator arcs instead of the Anubis/Goa'uld/Replicator arcs, it would have been way better. I really liked the Ori arc better than the whole Anubis arc. That being said, I don't really agree that Season 9/10 were that bad. They went out of their way with filming schedules and scripts to keep him as long as possible. It definitely wasn't a "Lets get rid of this Anderson asshole, who needs him". If it were up to the head honchos on SG:1 I'm sure they would have preferred to keep RDA if it meant higher ratings and not getting canceled. He started phasing himself out of season 7 and got "promoted" in 8 so he would only have bit parts. Well they didn't "take out" O'Neill (two "l"s), RDA left the show to focus on his family and stuff. The Goa'uld were really the best enemies. But the first 6 or so are fantastic and I will love them forever. just, everything about the last couple of seasons bothered me so I did not really put much effort into watching them. First they take out captain O'niel, the best character, then they fucking add in those farscape rejects.
